Walk The Moon on an Austin street where I should have been

When I was somewhere other than on Red River outside Stubbs last week in Austin, the four guys from Walk The Moon were playing their stupendously joyful song “Anna Sun” and a David Bowie cover under the yellow streetlights. You can feel the Texas warmth radiating even in the night.

Walk The Moon is announcing some tour dates today, for those of you who are as keen on them as I am. They were one of the most fun shows I saw at SXSW this year, all frenetic energy and catchy melodies. Come prepared to dance and maybe paint your face. Don’t judge.

  • Two artists I discovered through this blog are playing at a venue in Cleveland on the same night – Joe Pug and Walk the Moon! (I noticed that the Cleveland gig isn’t [yet?] on Walk the Moon’s tour, but it’s listed on the venue’s website. If they don’t come, that’ll majorly bum me out.) I just hope their sets don’t start at the same time.

  • Your tenacity has certainly paid off with this band. I wasn’t all that impressed with them in the first two posts about them but something about the singing in the street really clicked with me and I just purchased their album. Thanks.

  • Love Walk the Moon! I was just able to catch them at the Minneapolis show and it was insanely good. They just revamped their website too. Love these guys!! http://bit.ly/yALufj

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."
—Hunter S. Thompson

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
