Ain’t supposed to die on a Saturday night…

THIS is pretty much why I see live music (from last night):

AND: Yay! (Why yes, I am a dork)

AND: News from the band — they are planning to start recording a new album in January, out Spring 2010.

Brian Fallon solo acoustic album to follow later next year.

My actual review is showing up for the Denver Post, I’ll have that processed and written soon. Once my ears stop ringing.

  • They bring the rock. I’ve had Sink or Swim on my iPod, wearing out those bits and bytes for the past 2 weeks. If you’re interested, great photos from the Vancouver show are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/richellea/sets/72157616541027675/

  • its quite funny to me how sort of…. hmm… obsessed? you are, may be, probably are.. with gaslight anthem. i don’t mind’em. I think they ep they did is pretty awesome.. but i couldn’t get into 59 sound as much. but my girlfriend really likes all of it.. and them. HOWEVER, as you would imagine.. all my jersey friends that are in indie and punks bands absolutely hate this band. I should ask if they also hate Titus andronicus.. which I saw at Vintage Vinyl on Record Store Day, and just like at the no age show (which I raved about before on here) they were absolutely awesome.. and actually brought be back to listening to their album alot more.. since originally I didn’t have such a great interest in it because their live show was so freaking amazing. and still their album pales in comparison but its becoming more and more attractive the less and less money I have to drive everywhere to see’em. Also, I was wondering if you had the special live ep that gaslight anthem put out on record store day. and possibly what your favorite (if you have one) RS Day treat was… weather it be an event or a purchased item, or better.. both. Personally.. it was the Titus show at VV & the Pavement Live LP! however the flight of the conchords 7″ was quite a treat… I sadly couldn’t get my hands on the thermals split.. also didn’t appreciate the lack of a elvis costello 7″ on record store day. alright… i think thats alot. thanks for listening. you and your blog are awesome, still.

  • I saw them in Sacromento a week or two ago at some tiny club type place, they were amazing. I have only been to a few concerts, but this was by far the best ive seen. Both albums are amazing, and sounded even better live

  • I was in Colorado Springs that night and I’m kicking myself for not going to the show. I actually had dinner at Fargo’s just down the street. Anyway…thanks for sharing the video.

  • Thanks for the video and the news about the upcoming album. I’m glad we won’t have to wait more than a year or so for new stuff from them. I’ve been listening to “The ’59 Sound” a great deal. It’s an amazing album with many high points and no weak spots. Thanks again.

  • I stumbled upon your site through Pearl Jam. Very well written. Enjoy your work! But I’ll always be a PJ fan. Also noticed the love for Gaslight Anthem. Just came across Fallon doing “I Do Not Hook Up” acoustic – it is all sorts of awesome.

    Cheers!

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
