The flight of The Conchords, now with dancing robots and smooooth party moves

This made me laugh. Fantastic if you need to waste a half hour at work. Plus the theme song is dang catchy, and the really awful lyricism in the songs is unmatched. Take some cues, all you songwriters, you.

[actually, that’s just a snippet isn’t it.

Their banter on the show just strikes my funny bone the right way (and maybe it’s those New Zeeeeland accents too), plus see a tiny pic of their recent Bonnaroo appearance (courtesy of friend Max).

  • The best song from the show was the first one about the girl he saw at the par-tay.

When you’re on the street, depending on the street, you’re definitely in the Top 3!

Or something like that, but I was crying I was laughing so hard.

  • Agreed, Andy. And…

“Yeah, I suppose I do talk a lot about getting with some veeerrry hot women.”

  • Totally with you on this, Heather. I had the show on in the background while I was doing something else and had to hit the rewind button on the DVR to make sure I heard what I thought I did. Then I watched the episode in its entirety and loved it. I’ve been telling everyone they have to tune in to this week’s episode.

“You could be a part-time model, but you’d probably have to keep your normal job.” Classic.

  • I’m so bummed I missed the season premiere! At least I was until you posted this link. So, thanks!

I first saw these guys on HBO’s One Night Stand about a year ago and about wet my pants laughing. Subtle, tongue-in-cheek humor that’s pure genius! I mean, you can’t go wrong with a song about Albi, the Racist Dragon, right?

  • Like The Rules says, the One Night Stand special is awesome. All of the better clips are available on youtube. Yeah, I love those guys. Actually saw Jermaine on Houston Street a couple weeks ago, so the show is sorta true to life.

  • I am so glad they got their own show, they certainly deserve it.

    Orhan Kahn — June 20, 2007 @ 4:03 am

  • Oy. I guess I’m the only one who thought the show was mediocre at best.

    Ben Lazar — June 22, 2007 @ 1:36 pm

  • No, you’re right Ben, it was mediocre by the end, but keep in mind it’s only the first episode. And if you’ve seen their HBO special, then you must be well aware of their potential. When HBO asked the Conchords if they had any ideas for a sitcom, they replied, “No.” Give ‘em time.

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."
—Hunter S. Thompson

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
