Pearl Jam is confirmed for Lollapalooza

Just arriving in my inbox:

The rumors are true! Pearl Jam will headline this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago on Sunday, August 5th. This is the band’s only scheduled U.S. date for 2007.

Low-priced Earlybird 3-day passes go on sale tomorrow morning at 7:00am CDT here. Get ‘em while the price is right – the cost for the weekend pass will increase on April 12 when the complete festival lineup is announced or when
this initial allotment runs out.

No single day tickets will be available until further notice. Check with www.pearljam.com for updates. There are no exclusive Ten Club tickets available for this show.

Thanks

  • If I can just talk the wife into us “visiting my family” in Indiana in August… Considering she’ll be over eight months pregnant by that point…probably not.

  • I read your blog almost daily, but the Pearl Jam content is definitely my favorite. Keep it up. A question for you: do you have the original Victoria Williams version of Crazy Mary? I was listening to the PJ live version from one of their bootlegs (Boston, August 2000, I was there!) and I realized I’ve never heard the original…

  • I used to have this song (the original Crazy Mary) and just did some unearthing for you…it’s cool to hear the original, esp the part about “One night thunder cracked…” which is probably my favorite part of the PJ version – hers is very deadpan there…

  • Thanks much! That was quick. It’s a really nice sounding recording, her voice is really playful in spots and, like you said, deadpan in others. That little violin (?) accent after “over the curve, through the fields” is great.

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
