Do the right thing: We Are The World, Portland 2014 edition

Agesandages live

This is the best thing I’ve seen all month: I’ve been meaning to write about how explosively terrific and joyful the new Agesandages album is (out now on Partisan Records), but this new video does it all for me with zero editorial needed.

Divisionary (live choral version) – Agesandages

You can listen to the entire record here.

AND: it’s extra fantastic because watching the room and the happy singing, I noticed members of Typhoon, Y La Bamba, Modern Kin / Drew Grow & The Pastors’ Wives, and Blitzen Trapper.

I want this video to adopt me and be my forever family.

AGESANDAGES UPCOMING TOUR DATES
June 25 Vancouver BC / Rickshaw Theatre
June 26 Seattle, WA / The Tractor Tavern
July 25-27 Newport, RI / Newport Folk Festival

  • Watched under a minute of this before downloading the album!

  • This Ages & Ages album is the album of the first half of 2014 in my opinion. Windows down, cranked up loud and shouting along. Each melody feels familiar but new – like how have these notes not fallen together like this ever before?

  • So happy that you wrote about this! Their last album is amazing and I listened to it on repeat for many months…wasn’t sure how it seemed to be flying under everyone’s radar. Hopefully they will get the recognition they deserve with their latest effort.

  • Watching this was just another reminder of why music seeps through my bloodstream like air through keyhole. It’s everything music is supposed to be about. Uniting people with something joyous(or morose)that is channeled from deep within and given as a present to the world for whomever wants to enjoy it. I hope these guys find more like minded followers. Euphoric!

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."
—Nick Hornby, Songbook
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."
—Hunter S. Thompson

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
