Well I’m on about my 6th play already, which isn’t like me, I try not to binge. But this one has a very firm hold on me.
It’s so defiant in it’s exuberance!
I look forward to playing it in the car at an unreasonable volume and getting to know it inside out!
Between this and Norah Jones cover of “Jesus Etc.” from her newest album – the deluxe version, I’m having a fab Monday!

thanks scott! i *adore* it too; i have seriously listened to this song probably close to 40 times this weekend. i love the crazy apex of the song after the lyrics about “all of these old addresses, all of these empty guesses, you carry all of that weight on your back– ” and then the “thank you!” It just hits this marvelous stride that i can’t get enough of. i’m still in love with it.

Hi there,

Well I’ve just woken up (very) late on a Monday morning with a surprise day off of work and I realised I hadn’t checked out your gem-sharing blog in far too long.
I have enjoyed some of The Guillemots previous output and feel that Fyfe is probably one of these gifted songwriters who has so many melodies and layers in his head that his most difficult stage is sifting through them to focus on any one particular song.
From the opening almost yearning gasp for air this was unadulterated joy right from the get-go!
Thank you for drawing this to my attention – I adore it.

I like how incredibly happy he is to be in love. He is indestructible. His whole manner is absolutely ecstatic. And he can’t help but share that, by scribbling down his thoughts or singing them at the top of his lungs. We’ve all felt that way before at some point, yes? We can all empathize, right? Fyfe helps us to remember that feeling … and everybody likes to remember happiness, especially if it has some of that love stuff attached.
