Kings of Leon have some weird chicken thing going on

My friend Justin previewed this new video from Kings of Leon for me by saying it was “sort of homoerotic, meets religious, meets BBQ. i’ll let you be the judge.”

He was also so kind as to explain the theory that the video is a Jesus allegory of sorts, starting by telling me “so Caleb has an alter ego…The Rooster.” By this point I was already laughing.

Sex On Fire – Kings of Leon

Use Somebody (partial) – Kings of Leon
great new song, ripped from this video. I like it better than this.

  • I still think it reminds me of the “Losing My Religion” video. Only with less milk and angel wings.

I still don’t get the Jesus allusions. I feel about this video the same way I did about my Modern World Literature classes in college: sometimes a story is just a story.

  • I watched this yesterday. I hate being shallow but, Caleb looks extremely good in this video…

That said, when I saw this, it reminded me of The Exorcist, and if you look at it, there’s many things that point to an exorcism of sorts. And yeah, Caleb’s alter ego is “Rooster,” apparently he comes out when he’s really drunk or on drugs, or so the myth goes, haha. I guess they’re getting rid of him.

I’m sorry if that didn’t make any sense. Anyway, I really liked it! :D

  • I simply cannot wait for this album to drop. It’s the most excited I’ve been for a KOL release.

  • This had me in mind of “Losing My Religion” as well. “Milk and angel wings” — “buttermilk-battered chicken wings” — you see, you see….

As for the “homoerotic”… Radiohead recently played some festival or other with Kings of Leon. Thom Yorke told the crowd that if Radiohead were as good-looking as Kings of Leon, they (Radiohead) would be famous. So there you go.

  • The Kings are so good. Seeing them on the 23rd here in New York. Found you looking for Hansard’s cover of into the mystic. Cool blog.

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
