Jump magic jump, Magic dance, magic dance

I watched El Labyrinto Del Fauno (Pan’s Labyrinth) last night, which made me think of other favorite labyrinths of my past.

The question came to mind: which is scarier?

or?

  • To make this an even comparison, I think you also need to circle the sagging man-breasts of the creature from Pan’s Labrynth. Otherwise, we’re begging the question, eh?

  • gotta go with the original Labyrinth. I mean, muppets jumping around in fart-bogs, and David Bowie vamping it up for 90 minutes… I’ve taken some strong acid in my day, but damn!

  • I gotta give it to you.. no one could make me have an even more disturbing picture of Bowie in my head but you!

btw.. great movie! (the spanish one :P) though it wasn’t what I expected.. I was expecting an even more fantasized world! but it had some great performances!

  • I loved Pan’s Labyrinth, absolutely brilliant movie, extremely well done.

    The soundtrack is fantastic too.

  • David Bowie in his tight tight leggings and cropped jacket sparked the first hint of naughty feelings in my little 8 year old heart. It would be at least another 8 years before I really understood what to do with them.

  • ha! no joke, i was seriously watching Labyrinth last night. Brit wanted to show it to Tristan (who obviously could care less).

it’s her favorite movie. i’m more of a Neverending Story guy.

  • re: lower picture: that’s rotten!

Pan’s Labyrinth is excellent though. that creature in the top picture reminds me of some character from a Tool video

  • Do you have a secret store of these pictures! They appear to be a feature of your labryinthine web…

Pan’s Labryinth is dark but equally brilliant, too.

  • fk, the real gem of this post is the Magic Dance mp3 – come ON, guys!

    Katharine — November 14, 2007 @ 4:27 pm

  • thanks Katharine for saying that, I agree. My husband looked at me last night in what can only be described as thinly veiled repulsed horror when I sang all the lyrics to Magic Dance (“Slap that baby! Make him peeee!”). Didn’t they play that over the closing credits? I remember LOVING that song as a kid.

    Sigh.

  • My 4 y.o’s have taken to drawing their stick figure people with appendages like that thing on Mr. Bowie.

I recently let them watch Labyrinth.

    Co-incidence?

    I think not.

  • You post those two without “Underground” to round out the set? Blasphemy! Just kidding, but those are relative rarities and it’s frustrating to not get the whole set (I skipped “Chilly Down” because he doesn’t sound like himself on it).

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
